La Conner Sunrise Food Bank was awarded a generous donation from the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community during its annual Charity Gift Giving Luncheon on August 1, 2019. More than 150 volunteers representing over 50 recipient charities attended the event.
Donations and volunteerism are the lifeblood of the food bank. The Swinomish Tribes’ generous donation helps the food bank realize its mission of meeting the food needs of our community.
The 30 volunteers who staff the La Conner Sunrise Food Bank support an average of 90 families weekly with fresh fruits and vegetable, meat and dairy products, and canned goods. In July, the food bank happily supported 416 households representing 1,456 individuals, 30 of those households receive support through the mobile delivery service.
Generous donations of money, food, and supplies by the community, local farmers and organizations like the Swinomish Tribe, and the food banks hard-working volunteers, make it possible to supply about 3,600 lbs of food monthly to the community.
Thank you to all!
